Giclée Print Care Instructions
Thank you for your purchase! Your print is what’s known as a giclée print, meaning that it is designed to last for years and years, using a combination of pigment based ink printing onto cotton rag paper, resulting in an archival quality print. Please find below a few tips to help care for your print both now, and in the future:
Handling
Avoid touching the printed surface to prevent fingerprints and smudges. If you do need to touch the print directly (i.e. during framing), always wear clean cotton gloves.
Framing
Your print will look its best displayed in a frame. The packaging used when you purchased the print is intended as temporary storage and, whilst using carefully selected materials, may not provide optimum conditions for your print for very long term storage.
The best way to frame your print is to take it to a quality framer, and let them know it is a giclée print. Let them know you’d like:
- UV-protective glass or acrylic
- Acid-free materials to be used for mounting and matting
Display
Keep your print away from direct sunlight, humidity, and extreme temperature changes. Ideal locations include living rooms, offices, or areas with stable environmental conditions.
Storage
If you need to store your print, keep it flat in a cool, dry place using the same original packaging. Avoid rolling the print, as this can cause creasing.
Following the above care instructions will guarantee the beauty and longevity of your print for many, many years.
