Star Ferry

When I was a child, “riding the ferry” wasn’t just a mode of transport, it was truly an experience. I was always fascinated with how the “rope boys” secured the ferry to the pier. I loved the gentle rocking motion, and the little string that barred the exit until we were in the correct position. You could turn the direction of the seats to face either direction, feel the wind through the open windows, and enjoy a constant view of both sides of the harbour. For such a short ride, it offered an abundance of stimulation.
